Season 2009/2010
At Boroughmuir Rugby club, we are committed to
giving as many players as we can the chance to play
competitive rugby, to develop their team-work
skills, work on fitness, and above all to enjoy
themselves.
We are fortunate to be part of one of Scotland’s
leading club sides, and at Meggetland we have access
to the best facilities of any rugby club in
Scotland.
With over 200 players, and 30 coaches, playing from
P3 to S4 levels, we help players, whatever their
experience, to play competitive rugby and to develop
to the best of their abilities.
We have enjoyed great success over recent years.
For instance, last season, our P7s won all bar-one
tournament they entered in Scotland, our U15s and
U16s both reached the semi-finals of the National
Competitions, and the U16s sharing the Edinburgh
league. We have also contributed the largest
numbers of players to the Edinburgh Pathways process
of any club, and started to provide focussed support
for some players to help better prepare them for
this.
Last year, with the support of the SRU, we engaged a
full-time Rugby Development Officer to support
us. This has had a number of beneficial effects,
which we’re looking to build on next season. One
possibility is looking to run a ‘micro’ session for
children in P1 to P3 to enjoy themselves, get some
exercise, and to start to develop rugby related
skills.
We remain committed to sending players on tours, to
help develop their rugby skills, their social
skills, and to help build relations with teams and
players outside their normal experience. Last
season our P7s performed well at the Malone
International Rugby Festival, and our S1 and S2s
both enjoyed Rugby Festivals in Wales.
We welcome new players at all levels. But in
particular out P4 and P5 squads are looking for new
players
You would be very welcome to come and train at
Meggetland, off the Colinton Road.
