Meggetland entertained a young Melrose 2nds
side in a friendly as both teams had a free day from league
duties. On paper this was a very difficult game for us but a
determined, controlled performance saw us run out 22-5
winners, with tries from Kevin Brown and a double form Alex
Carr.
Turning round 15-0 up into a very stiff
breeze we expected a very hard 40 minutes of defensive
duties, particularly after an early Melrose try, however we
were helped by some indiscipline by the visitors which
resulted in 3 yellow cards. This allowed the coaches the
luxury of giving all 12 (!) subs some game time, however
with competition now for all positions it makes for an
interesting selection meeting on Tuesday.
